well....driving home from work last Tuesday approaching my exit, my car started to decel on its own. Just having installed the MSD 6aL i'm thinking the negative coil wire i had to tap into(drilled a tiny hole in distributor cap i made) was getting shorted out. Under accelloration the car seemed fine. Well this all happened within a 1/4 mile from my exit. Getting on the offramp i coasted. came to the bottom of the ramp and the car never started again. I'm thinking....ut oh...starter or fuel pump. I thought different things due to it not turning over at all....and my fuel pressure gauge was pegged. anywho....had to have my car towed a few miles. After tearing it apart...this is what i found out.
Set screw for my rotor backed itself out. Locked up the rotor...locked up the distributor...locked up some big ass lift Spec B intake cam which proceded to rip about 6" of timing belt teeth out. everything advanced. result?
distributor bearings ticking, timing belt, bent valves, leaking rings. bearings worn. I know the last 3 because i have metal grit and gas in my oil...and my compression test resulted in 220,210,190,210. We can hear number 3 tapping. So?
i ran the car this past weekend and the friggin car still put out 13.295 @102.49mph. crazy
moral of the story? make sure that set screw is tight.

you didn;t even mention how many times the f$%^&&% MSD cap had to be taken off ... the moral of the story, don;t listen to manufacture instructions all the time ...
yeha lip, 13.2 ain;t bad ... maybe a lil laxative wooda brought it down to 13.1, huh ?

Did anyone beside me notice that whenever a Honda engine goes bad, its always cyl. #3?

I hear because #3 is the last one to get fuel, and sometimes comes up short.

it's because #3 is the weakest after the car was running, i.e. it runs the hottest since it gets fired between 2 cylinders, #2 and #4

but isnt the firing order 1-3-2-4, so #3 would fire before the two cyliders that are next to it (2 and 4).
The intake runner to #3 certainly isn't the longest.
And since #2 is one of the middle cyliders, wouldn't that make it as vorunable as #3? or even more considering the fact that #4 fires right before it?
